A new asteroid passed very close to the earth
Asteroid
`2024 GZ2' passed the earth from a distance of only 12 thousand miles
A
new asteroid passed very close to the earth, just before the rays of the total
solar eclipse. Astronomers discovered this new asteroid on April 9 named
'2024 GZ2'. The asteroid passed the earth from a distance of only 12
thousand miles. Just two days after the discovery (April 11), astronomers said
the asteroid was so close to Earth that it flew past the ear. The asteroid will
come close again after 70 years.
Such
asteroids burn up in the Earth's atmosphere and are destroyed. The asteroid, named
2024 GZ2, is between 8.2 and 16 feet in size, the European Space Agency
said. The small asteroid would have passed only 3 percent of the Moon's total
distance from the Earth if it had done no damage.
In
70 years it will be further away from Earth than it is now, astronomers said.
Finding such asteroids is a very difficult task. And this '2024 GZ2' asteroid
was found two days ago
Also,
it should be said that the US space research agency NASA has identified more
than 35 thousand asteroids that are close to the Earth so far.
